It has not been proven that wearing a homemade non-medical/facial mask in the community protects the person who wears it and it isn’t a substitute for physical distancing and hand washing.

However, it may be an additional measure taken to protect those around you, even if you do not have any symptoms. It can be useful for short periods of time when physical distancing is not possible in public places, such as when you are shopping or using public transit.

– Avoid touching your face or the mask while wearing it.

-Change the mask when it is wet or soiled.
