This one-of-a-kind La Costa Necklace features a piece of natural tagua seed dyed turquoise, with an organic pattern created by remnants of the outer bark of the seed. It is combined with a freeform silver drop, handcrafted in fine silver precious metal clay. The pendant hangs from multiple strands of hemp, hand-knotted with tagua and sterling silver beads. Sterling clasp, length: 24″.

My designs feature tagua, the seed of a tropical palm tree, sustainably sourced in South America. Tagua is known as ‘vegetable ivory’ because when peeled and polished is is creamy white and smooth, and has been used since the early 20th century as a substitute for elephant ivory. The seed is carved, immersed in natural dyes to create the beautiful vivid colours, and finally polished in a tumbler to bring out the softness and shine. All my handmade tagua jewelry is natural and one-of-a-kind, and yours may have slight colour and texture variations from the pictured piece.
