This luminous emerald green brooch and pendant features the famous L’Emeraude painting by Alphonse Mucha. Mucha has been my favourite artist since I was a teenager. The “father of Art Nouveau”, Mucha captured flowing lines and dramatic renderings of women during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. I had the luxury of seeing one of Mucha’s original lithograph prints in a downtown home owned by an avid vintage costume collector in Toronto while I was studying design in the 1980’s. While Mucha’s colours were much softer in the original works and lithograph prints, today’s prints depict deeper tones as in this reprint, lending itself to the drama of this brooch/pendant. I have taken a digital copy of the artwork and transferred it onto luminous Mother of Pearl. The image allows the natural shell nacre glow through and reflect the light.

This gorgeous brooch, set in a hand-soldered Art Nouveau style frame, features a bale on the back, making it easily convertible from brooch to necklace. The image is top-coated with a thick clear resin coat for excellent protection and high-gloss shine.

The brooch measures 2 1/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches and comes with a 17 to 20 inch adjustable chain.
